Update: Collin's breastmilk intake has increased to four mL an hour...and his TPN requirement continues to decrease. Collin's new nickname is "The Urinator" as he has displayed a real gift for spraying his nurses (and those around him) and broken some NICU "long shot" records. (This is in jest, of course.) He gets a tremendous amount of fluids, and the output demonstrates that. We expect him to continue this trend of healing.

Collin continues to do well. Not only has he moved to another "pod" (wing) in the NICU, he is now getting 3 mL of breastmilk an hour. We continue to pray for miracles as his parents look at other medical options for Collin.

Here are the most recent pictures of the little family. And Baby makes three
I see you!

We just love seeing pictures of Collin. I wish I could be there to hold him. He is so adorable. Granny and Gramps (Great) Nastase think he might be cuter than their own 6 children and 13 grandchildren. Do I sound a little non-objective?

Mom N, I am bringing your comment over to the last entry so Erin and Matt will see it. :)

LOL, in regards to your comment, I am in agreement. (Being a proud grandma has absolutely NOTHING to do with my opinion!) lol

Your family is so beautiful! I love checking in to see how Collin is doing...he has such a great family. Erin I miss you so much, and I am praying for you and your family.

I love that so many friends; old and new, near and far have checked in with us! Baby Collin was certainly born into a lot of love.

I must agree with Granny! Collin’s magnificence has nothing to do with my biased, opinionated or a pride as his nana. Simply stated, Collin has the most excellent traits of many in our families combined…our blood runs deep through this gift from God. The love that surrounds the trio is evident and continues to strengthen Matt and Erin as parents and a couple. God Bless you Matt, Erin, and Collin. We love and miss you very much.

Lol, Nana V, Collin has another doting grandma, "Grandma Mary" who is reading these comments but probably too shy to post herself. Between the three of us, I am sure we could corner the market on "grandson pride"! :)

No doubt Grandma Lora...never too much love...never! Thanks for all you are doing! Nana V

Thank you, Nana V., it's my pleasure.

Thank you also for all of the eloquent prayers and comments you have left for our little family. They almost always make me tear up and I know they always mean the world to Erin and Matt. You are here in spirit, until you can be here again, in person. (Nana V)

Yes, we have books filled with pictures. (I only wish I were as organized with my kids' pictures! lol) It is easy to take a million pictures when your subject(s) is one you love so much. It is amazing to me to see the changes in Collin in just two weeks! Erin, too. *I think she has won her bet! lol*

This poem by Helen Mallicoat means the world to me, I thought it was time to share.

I was regretting the past and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking.
My name is I AM!

He paused.
I waited.
He continued.

When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard.
I am not there.
My name is not I Was.

When you live in the future with its problems and fears, it is hard.
I am not there.
My name is not I Will Be.

When you live in this moment, it is not hard.
I am here.
My name is I AM!

Good Morning sweet Collin! As I begin my day in ND, I'm sure yours has yet to start. However, Mommy is probably up already washing the floors and getting your outfits ready to bring back to you. She runs a "tight ship" as they say, everything in its place, neat and tidy. I am sure you too will have such characteristics. From what mom says you hate a wet diaper, you go through at least 3 outfits a day, and you love to be held. Not a bad start on keeping the ship neat and tidy, not to mention you like attention, another attribute of Mommy. Have a wonderful day today Collin, I love you and miss you very much. God Bless You!

Erin,
good luck with the little one. Your mom is a great supporter of everyone here at school and I want you to know that I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best with your child. You're in my prayers and I know God will take care of you all.

Erin and Matt - our thoughts and prayers from good old LHS are with you. It is so nice to be able to check progress on this website. Erin - the pictures of you remind me of all the times while you were here at Larimore High School. You are becoming such a beautiful young woman and mother. That smile of yours never changes. I bet all the doctors' and nurses' days are brightened by your smile. Joni McMahon

What a handsome young man. Erin, he has his mother's fighting spirit and I know that his determination and god's love will get him through this in flying colors. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers and our mission in ND is to take care of Grandma V. and keep her going. Love the Berthold's
