Sunday, April 22

Today is Collin's due date! lol Because he is so much like his mom in so many ways, we figure that his coming early was just him being impatient.

Collin has a new apparatus! It is called a "Mic-Key Button" (or sometimes a "gastronomy button") and it is used instead of the gastronomy tube (or g-tube) that Collin had previously. It works like a nipple on a beach ball where you can close the lid and then push it down below the surface of the ball; in Collin's case, the "mic-key button" can sit at his skin level which will eventually allow him to crawl and lay on his stomach. It is easier to clean and more convenient for mom and dad, as well. Placing it did not take a surgery or any special procedure, the doctor merely pulled out the g-tube and inserted the "mic-key button".

Now that he is 6 weeks, two days old, Collin has longer periods of activity and longer periods of sleep. (Last night he slept for 5 hours straight; if you have been a parent of a newborn, you recognize that's a LONG time!) He continues to assert his personality and vocalize his pleasure or displeasure. He is definitely a well-loved baby and one of the favorites in the NICU.

Thank you all for continuing to read, pray and send love to Collin and his family!
I see you, Grandma!
Why aren't you holding me?!

If you look back in the archives on March 23rd, you will see how much Collin has grown in these past four weeks! His head is now bigger than the teddy bear's pictured on that entry.

He holds his head up and away from his chest more often, which is good. It means he is developing strong neck muscles. He is a joy!

Awwwww, those are precious pictures! I am so glad he is coming along so well and love being able to watch and read his progress here! Thank you for sharing him. :)
He's a handsome little bugger to be sure.
Continued prayers here.
God Bless.

LOL, Erin, I think you had two or three "due dates", sweetie! (I'm amazed that I was only one day off!) haha I really *hoped* he would be born on 4/29/07, but just like you, he has a mind of his own! ;) Isn't it amazing how much he has grown? You don't notice it as much when you see him every day, do you?!

That blanket he is laying on is so cute! The entry about the meaning of the blankets really touched my heart. The love that you express for not only baby Collin and his parents, but also for the other grandparents is admirable. God bless you and thank you for sharing his precious life and progress with us.

Happy Due Date to Collin! What a neat little "contraption". I'd never heard of that before so it was very interesting to me! That's so great he's sleeping for such a stretch at night. Hopefully he continues once he is home. Wonderful new pictures! He really HAS grown! He's just gorgeous and I smile every time I see a new picture!

The blanket with the balls came from Collin's honorary aunties (my girlfriends) along with a beautiful quilt. The small one that you see in two of the pictures (it has giraffes on it) was made by a colleague of Nana V's. The generosity and love that has been shown our entire family is awesome. :)

A sea of blue
An ocean of love
Hearts breaking, wishing and hoping
Prayers from bended knee
Lord, carry this family

A tiny hand, foot, smile
An angel on earth,
Bringing a large family together
All wishing and hoping and praying
that our Lord will carry them
