Wednesday, May 2

Tonight is a very special night for Collin's aunties A and S...they get to see their precious nephew face-to-face (well, through a glass door!) this evening for the first time! We were supposed to do it last night for Collin's Mommy's birthday but life happened. So, we're packing up her gifts and will head up around dinner time to celebrate with her tonight. This is great that it's happening now, because Collin's mom was informed today that they could leave for Omaha at any time, with a few hours notice. She is home right now, packing a bag for herself and for Collin so they'll be ready to go.

Dad's paperwork is at Randolf AFB, hopefully getting approved. We're praying faithfully and believe it will be approved soon. At that point, the Air Force will hire packers to pack up the family's belongings and move them. Dad and Grandpa N will be taking a road trip in the family roadster which will be awesome bonding time for the two of them. :)

We'll keep you posted and hopefully be able to provide you with some cute pictures tonight!

Auntie A and Auntie S getting to see Baby Collin face to face!!!

They must be so excited.
I know I am, for them!

Have fun, Erin, at your little Birthday Party tonight, and opening all your gifts.
What great news! ... that you'll be leaving for Omaha very soon.

P.S. A note for Tiffany, a member of our Troops in Afghanistan.....

You continue to be in my prayers, Sweetheart, and I continue to be grateful for what you're doing for our country.

Stay safe, Darling.

I pray that whatever happened today, that caused you to need some good news, isn't too bad and will soon be over...

... and I pray that everything for you, also, now and for always, moves in the right direction!!

The squeals of delight were so loud that nurses (with large grins) gathered around to watch the girls see Baby Collin for the first time. Auntie A had very shiny eyes and said she thought "he looked cuter in person and much smaller than expected" and Auntie S said, "I liked him and I think he liked me, too!"

At one point Collin's nurse, Gene, and the girls had to move out of the way because a large x-ray machine was being moved out of the NICU. As the door opened and they were separated from Collin by only a couple of feet, both girls covered their mouths with their hands, eyes big "o's" of excitement. When the doors closed, they rushed back up to the window to gaze at their handsome newborn nephew.

As we left the wing, Auntie A whispered to no one in particular, "this was the BEST day in my whole life, since March 9th!"

Those pictures brought back some memories of when my daughter saw her brother for the first time "through the glass". It was an awesome experience for her that 4 years later, she has not forgotten. Thank you so much for sharing those! Those will definitely be pictures to treasure for a lifetime!

Deanna, thank you so much for your kind words! You are all a truly special bunch!! :)

Erin,

We are thrilled that the move has been set in motion. All your friends and family here in Omaha are so excited to see you and Collin and Matt. I'm sure you'll have so many helpers here but please remember that my office is less than 5 minutes from NMC and if you ever need anything, I'll drop whatever I'm doing and zip right over.

Erin and Matt, I am so happy for your family to have such an opportunity to get the care for Collin he so desperately needs. What an absolute blessing for you all!
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and yours during this transitional period.
Godspeed.

Oh my gosh! Why did I have to read this update and see those precious pictures before heading into a meeting here at work?! I have tears rolling down my cheeks. I have never seen such precious expressions as on the aunties A and S. They are positively beaming at their darling little nephew. How patient they have been for not being able to see him in person until now. They are totally in love, I can see that. Lucky Collin!

Happy B-day Erin! Get that bag packed, you just never know when it could be time to go. That will be great news when it happens. Boy has he grown and he is a cut little guy. I wish we could see him. Love the Berthold's
