Baby Collin's getting food!

Guess who got a promotion!!! Congratulations Daddy! Matty got a call the day of Collin’s surgery letting him know he made Staff Sgt!!!! Collin tried on Daddy’s stripes! Isn’t he cute :)

Great news today, Collin’s feeds have started! He’s going to get 5ml an hour today and tomorrow they may start going up 5ml every 8hrs until he reaches his full feeds (as long as he doesn’t vomit)! We may also be going home tomorrow. One of the Drs said ok, and another wants to wait until he’s about half way through his feeds (about 26ml). Collin’s also getting a bottle four times a day and only 5ml. :) We’re hoping he’ll get to his full feeds soon so we can go home! Please continue to pray! Thank you and we love you!

I am thrilled that you might be able to go home this week! Unbelievable! Obviously he won't be weaned off the tpn like we'd hoped...oh well. You'll all be much happier in your own home.

The stripes look great on Collin; can't wait for Matt to sew them on. (For those of you not familiar with the military, when one makes a promotion, it can be up to a year before they "sew on" their new stripes. They don't get to be referred to as their new rank or get the new pay or priveleges until then!) Hopefully the time flies by quickly.

Honey, the pictures are so cute! I can hear Collin's giggle. You are doing a great job with the blog.

Love you!

G Grandpa and I (GG) here in Omaha went to visit the Simmons family yesterday. They were ALL so happy and healthy. We brought lunch to them. We probably stayed 2 hr. Loved it. GG even held Collin. He literally has no pain. I stood him up, held him sitting down and over my shoulder. He was darling and not hurting. He even giggles and holds his toys. We just had a fantastic time. I'm so glad we can visit them. Yes the room is adorable. He watches all that is going on. Erin loves to play with him and his toys. Matt changed him and of course he wet about 3 min later and so Erin changed him next. She was trying to get him to say Mama. He has 2 bottom teeth that are trying to poke thru. He even has a vibrating teether for the sore gums. What they have today is amazing. Love, GG and G Grandpa PS His incision looks great! Will love to see it all healed. He truly is a miracle, to think that he was to be in the hospital 2-3 weeks and probably will come home today or tomorrow. Only 9 or 10 days. WOW!!!

Aww, Gigi, I am so glad you and GGpa got to visit our little family yesterday. I know it's great for you to see them, it also breaks up the monotony of the hospital for them, too. Aren't his toys so cute?

The little vibrating teether you referred to is a toy stalk of corn that Erin's mom sent. I am sure it will show up in a photo show one of these days when I get my pictures all downloaded.

Thanks for the great update; it helps me feel like I am there when I read about Collin and his parents. Love you, Mom!

Congratulations to Matt on his promotion! I know how much those stripes mean$$! We are so happy to hear that Collin is doing so well and will have a quicker recovery than planned. You would never know from all his pictures what he has been through. He's always smiling and so happy. Keep those grins and giggles comin' Collin!
Love & hugs,

Great job Erin and good information. Collin does look like he is "standing at attention" with those stripes. Bet Matt will too when they get sewn on his uniform.

Collin is so cute and absolutely squeezeable". Prayin for the food to stay down.
