Good Friday, April 6

Collin is four weeks old today!

Update: Collin's Mom just called to let us know that Collin now weighs 6 lbs 2 oz! Keep on growing, big boy! We love you!!
Today the feeds resume! Woo hoo! They are starting nice and slow...1 mL an hour, we're hoping the brief rest allowed Collin's small intestine to heal more and he'll be able to digest the fluids properly.

In celebration of his 4 week mark, his mom asked his nurse if Collin could move into a crib. His wonderful nurse complied and it's pretty neat. His mom and dad went home (after dressing the crib) and brought back Collin's mobile. It has a rainforest theme and it plays classical music. The animals on the mobile are brightly colored, with big eyes (babies like that) and they are all hung at a slant so he can get a good look at them. Highly educational and quite entertaining!

Today a new neighbor moved into the NICU and there was alot of commotion. The soothing sounds of Bach and Beethoven from his mobile lulled Collin back to dreamland and possibly helped calm the nerves of the nurses as well.

It's hard to believe that he's only been a part of our family for a month, yet it has gone by so fast. Having Collin in our lives has brought so much joy to us...thank you, Collin's Mommy and Daddy, for bringing him into the world. We love you!

Aww, he looks so cozy in his new "room". I'm so glad they're letting him have some more comforts of what home would be like. I pray that he handles the feeds well! Happy 4 weeks Collin!!

He looks so cute and snuggly in his crib. I love the mobile, what a fabulous choice. Great to hear he is back on the feeds! Yay Collin :)

Isn't his little home adorable? I think it is so sweet and thoughtful of Erin to "decorate" it as she has. All of the nurses have commented on it and Collin likes it, too!

I love the mobile! But I love Collin more. :-)

I'm praying that the feeds go well. He's hanging in there so well, that dear baby.

Matt & Erin,

You both have experienced good days and days that are very trying, just as Collin has experienced. Take comfort that we are here for you during all times, good, bad, and in-between. We also recognize that you are doing everything possible to care for and love Collin.

Collin one day will thank you for everything you both have done. He will always have the great understanding and security of knowing you love him.

Keep pressing on...when the days are long know we are here to support you and give you strength.

We love you so very much!

Gramps N. in Omaha thinks the blogsite is so neat and how do you guys know how to do this? He loves that you all do it and is impreessed with your computer knowledge. I say a rosary everynight for Collin. Keep up the good work. Maybe Collin will be in Omaha by June 29 and July 1 for Michael's graduation and our 45 anniversary. We can hardly wait to see you three and Lora and Chris and 2 girls. Love, Great Grandpa N.
